Eigentlich hatte ich mir für dieses Wochenende viel vorgenommen...

Nach intensivem Training wollte ich wie bei einem Rekordversuch wenn möglich täglich eine ganze Stunde durchfahren. Am Samstag hatten wir die besten Wetterbedingungen. Leider mussten wir nach einer Testrunde die Räder auswechseln, keine kurze Angelegenheit beim Ristretto. Als wir wieder Startbereit waren und wieder eine Testrunde gefahren sind, war der Wind bereits zu stark.

Am Sonntag waren wir früh auf der Bahn um die besseren Windverhältnisse nutzen zu können. Da es in der Nacht geregnet hatte, war die Bahn teilweise noch nass, die Luft sehr feucht und kalt und der Himmel grau. Wir wussten dass dies den Luftwiderstand erheblich erhöht. Egal, der Start mit der neuen unbemannten Vorrichtung verlief gut und ich konnte bis auf über 80kmh beschleunigen. So fuhr ich 27 Minuten mit Rundenzeiten von 4'15" - 4'20" was einem Schnitt zwischen 80-82kmh entspricht. So viel Power habe ich im Ristretto wohl noch nie erbracht. Unter guten Bedingungen wären die Rundenzeiten deutlich besser gewesen. Durch die Belüftung, welche die Feuchtigkeit im Speedbike verringern sollte, kam nur noch feuchtere Aussenluft rein. Das Wasser tropfte nur so vom Deckel und von den Armen runter obwohl die Innentemperatur die 22°C nicht überstieg. Dazu musste ich mir die Augen ständig reiben und nach 15 Minuten fühlte ich mich so ausgetrocknet wie noch nie. Schuld war der extrem hohe Gehalt an Pollenstaub auf der Fahrbahn und in der Luft, welcher durch die Lüftung direkt ins Gesicht gepustet wurde. Vom Begleitfahrzeug her sollen sie gesehen haben, wie ich eine gelbe Wolke hinter mir aufwirbelte - Pollen. Egal, weiterfahren mit Puls im Schwellenbereich...und dann kam natürlich noch der Regen...und die Fahrt musste nach 27 Minuten abgebrochen werden.

Wir haben gehofft am Abend noch einmal starten zu können, der Wind liess jedoch zu spät nach und somit war nur noch der Montag übrig. Dieser war bereits früh sehr windig, haben sie im Radio schon von Windstärke 3-4 gesprochen. So haben wir am Montag nur noch Fotos machen können.

Es ist und bleibt eine Lotterie...

 

I'd had big plans for this weekend...

After some intense training, I had planned to ride for a full hour every day, just like in a record trial. On Saturday, we had the best weather conditions. Unfortunately, we had to change the wheels after a testing lap, which isn't a minor task with the Ristretto. When we were ready to go again and had done another testing lap, the wind was already too strong.

On Sunday, we were at the track early to take advantage of the better wind conditions. As it had rained during the night, the track was still partly wet, the air was very damp and cold and the sky was grey. We knew that this would significantly increase the air humidity. Regardless, starting with the new unmanned device went well and I could accelerate to over 80 kph. For 27 minutes, I rode lap times of 4'15"-4'20", equalling an average speed of 80-82 kph. I had never produced that kind of power in the Ristretto before. Under good conditions, the lap times would have been much better. The air intake, designed to reduce humidity inside the speedbike, only sucked in even more humid air from the outside. The water dripped down from the canopy and from my arms, although the interior temperature never rose above 22°C. On top of that, I had to rub my eyes constantly and felt dried out as never before. That was the result of the high amount of pollen on the track and in the air, which, through the air intake, was blown directly into my face. The people in the support vehicle reported that I dragged a yellow cloud behind me - pollen. Nevertheless, I went ahead with my heart rate near the threshold....and then the rain came....and the ride had to be aborted after 27 minutes.

We'd hoped to be able to start again in the evening, but the wind calmed down too late, so only Monday remained - which turned out to be windy very early, with the radio announcing 3-4 bft. Thus, all we could do on monday was to take pictures.

It remains a lottery....
